The outrage is right! This is BEYOND unacceptable - even for this mess of a series!
If you thought that a four year old being dressed in butt pads and fake tittays was bad enough on last week's episode of the void of despair and psychosis otherwise known as Toddlers & Tiaras, then you'll be downright HORRIFIED with tonight's show, which features a three year old dressed as Julia Roberts' prostitute character in Pretty Woman!
Absolutely unreal - and sad, inappropriate, and frankly, disgusting that a mother would sexualize such a young child in this manner.
And we're not the only ones who feel this way.
According to Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education for the PTC:
"We have a serious problem when The Learning Channel features a toddler, who probably hasn't even learned to read, dressed as a prostitute showing off her sexy strut. There's no question, TV executives are complicit in robbing these small kids of their childhood. For years we've seen adults sexuality being inappropriately and aggressively foisted on innocent young children, but children today are being sexualized at younger and younger ages. All available data suggests they will suffer for it later in life."
Exactly! Not to mention how wrong it is of TLC to condone and exploit this kind of behavior - especially for anyone and EVERYONE (including child abusers) to see!
It doesn't matter whether or not this poor little girl understands what the connotations of the costume suggest - it matters that she's being taught at this young an age that this kind of outfit and behavior is not only acceptable, but will get her attention and praise.
This mother, the judges, and the producers of this show should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
Way too far.
